MASON CITY | My Happy Haven is hoping to give bedroom makeover to more North Iowa women with cancer in the coming year with the help of its first fundraising gala.

The Chrysalis Ball is 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Best Western Holiday Lodge in Clear Lake. It will include dinner, music, "diamond in a glass," a wine pull, a silent auction and a candle-lighting ceremony.

The past year's room recipients will also be honored during the event with a gown, hair and makeup and limo service before the gala with a red-carpet entrance. Video clips of each of their rooms will kick off the evening.

Those being honored are:

• Hampton — Jessica Johnson, Karen Ringleb (will not be present).

• Manly — Rose Hanson.

• Mason City — Jean O’Neil, Misty Theilen, Bridget True and Briana Sykes.

• Rockwell — Katie Blackdeer.

Holly Platts, daughter of former room recipient Sharon Lindsay, who lost her battle to cancer, will be a guest speaker.

The community-based nonprofit's goal is to complete at least 10 bedroom makeovers a year for women in Mason City or within a 30-mile radius.

Tickets are $40 online or $45 at the door. Visit www.myhappyhavenmc.com for more information.
