My Happy Haven will have the pleasure of providing a newly redecorated bedroom for Mariah Barrett of Mason City. Mariah was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and is determined to fight it all the way! Because she needs to sleep propped up due to blood clots in her lungs, Mariah has made her bed in a recliner downstairs, away from the company of her husband. MHH is determined to change that and get her back into the comfort of her old (but newly redecorated) bedroom.
Iowa Bariatrics – Phyllis Ver Steeg and Dr. Kyle VerSteeg, is the sponsor for Mariah’s room. Dr. VerSteeg is a repeat sponsor and his generosity and kindness is greatly appreciated.
A Minnesota native, Mariah, 44, moved to Iowa to attend Waldorf College. She stayed in North Iowa and a family followed.
Married and the proud mother of three children, Mariah has had many careers. She is happiest when helping others, especially children and the less fortunate.
Maria is incredibly grateful for the surprise gift from My Happy Haven. She is most looking forward to having a cozy space where she can rest and recuperate during her cancer fight.
Mariah will see her room for the first time at the Reveal scheduled for next Tues. Oct. 16th @ 6pm.
